The Road Back: Georgia’s Blueprint for a Title Run

ATHENS, Ga.
It is that time of year when every corner of college football is fueled by opinion. Fans, analysts,
and coaches all weigh in. But the facts will be written on the field. And in Athens, the Georgia
Bulldogs are preparing to take that field with eyes on a return to the national title conversation.
Coming off what many in the industry labeled a rebuilding year, Georgia posted a 10–2 regular
season in 2024. The Bulldogs capped it off with an SEC Championship and earned a berth in the
College Football Playoff. The campaign ended in the Sugar Bowl with a 23–10 loss to Notre
Dame, but not before Georgia proved that its floor remains one of the highest in the sport.
As the 2025 season begins, Georgia again enters as one of the top-ranked programs in the
country.
The Bulldogs own the nation's longest active home winning streak at 34 games. Their
last loss at Sanford Stadium came in October of 2019 to South Carolina.
Much of this year's narrative begins under center. With Carson Beck transferring to Miami, the
Bulldogs turn to Gunner Stockton. Stockton appeared in key moments last season, including the
SEC title game and the CFP semifinal. As noted by College Football News, Stockton “showed
poise” under pressure but must now lead a restructured offense with more consistency. Backup
Ryan Puglisi has taken meaningful developmental steps and is viewed as a capable reserve.
The offensive line features a mix of experience and competition. Monroe Freeling and Earnest
Greene III return at tackle. Drew Bobo is expected to take over at center. Guards Micah Morris
and Daniel Calhoun offer power in the run game, while true freshman Waltclaire Flynn adds
depth.
